Here
I am again, George, a real 2 time WINNER....
Last year you published my account of my first
Raven
save (thanks for the T-shirt)! This time I
was following an AFF student out on his low-level
jump (4,000') and watched a nicely stable
diving exit and a good deployment after 5-6
seconds. I took it on down a few more seconds
and threw my pilot chute out and watched the
canopy deploy, well, into a streamer. How
come it's always a surprise? It's like your
best friend just slapped you in the face and
your jaw just kind of hangs there and you've
got this "Duhhh" look on your face.
Well I watched the damn thing do a couple
of rotations to the left and I thought "Well
now that's done, now it'll open"......
....then it did another left rotation and
I knew the truth....
IT
WASN'T GOING TO OPEN!!!!
So
I did what I tell everybody else to do and
calmly cutaway and deployed my Raven
II from a nice stable body position (unlike
a lot of the people you've been featuring
lately) and had just the softest opening :-),
flew to the target and did a nice tip-toe
standup (which I've come to expect from my
Raven)
and felt pretty good about myself. Thanks
again (and I expect I'll eventually thank
you again a third time)....I take a medium
shirt.

The student graduated and got to see how my
Raven
works and is just about ready to order his.
