"...let's
find out if these Raven Reserves are really as
good as they say..."
Dear
George,
Finally
I have my own Raven save story! It was a normal
day at the DZ when two friends and I went out
to do some CRW. After a rather uneventful jump
with a little bit of docking practice, one of
my friends and I flew a nice stairstep. That is,
it was nice, until we got top docked, also in
a stairstep. The resulting turn spun me around
and I was hanging with some line twists and a
really ugly looking right side of my canopy [distorted
by] my friends foot.
My
immediate thought was, I have to cut this one
away, even if my friend could clear his foot out
of my main, but I wanted to give him some time.
So we had this interesting conversation - "Stefan,
you have to get your foot out of my main!"
He replied "I can't get my foot out of your
main!" - while we were spiralling down from
3000 to about 2000ft.
At
that time I figured, let's find out if these Raven
Reserves are really as good as they say they are.
I cut away, pulled the silver handle and was absolutely
surprised, how nice and fast my reserve opened.
It must have been quite a sight from above (which
according to my friend it was).
The
end of the story is a nice standup landing next
to my main, the freebag and my buddies in the
middle of a cow field. Thanks a lot for building
such a nice reserve canopy!
Yours,
Lutz
