"HEADLINE: NFL ALL-PRO CENTER PUTS SUPER
RAVEN TO THE TEST"
George Galloway, president Precision Aerodynamics,
Inc.
Dear George:
As a former NFL "All Pro" Center
with the San Francisco 49ers, I am well aware
of the importance of preparation and safety
when choosing the proper equipment. Since
I am a relatively new skydiver, I solicited
a great deal of information on various equipment
and its reliability before I purchased my
gear. On the recommendation of Action Air
owner Ray Ferrell, I chose a Raven III
as my reserve, which leads me to my story.
On October 17th I was test jumping a new "Zero-P"
main canopy on a 2-way relative work skydive
with my fiancee Kelly. After a normal exit
and skydive, we broke off at 3500 ft and I
then deployed at 2800 ft. My main canopy opened
immediately but it began to spin violently
and wildly out of control. My first reaction
was to release my brakes and try to control
my radically spinning main, but this only
resulted in a more violent spin!
By now I had passed through 1800 feet and
I saw the ground approaching rapidly. I reached
for my cutaway handle and with a quick pull
I was freed from my malfunction as my RSL
deployed my Raven III reserve. My reserve
opened on heading and with comfortable opening
shock. As I rode the bright red reserve down
to a soft standup landing, I thought back
to Ray's advice that the most important piece
of equipment I obtained could someday save
my life.
I will forever remember jump #97, my first
malfunction and how the Raven III performed
as advertised!!
I would like to thank Precision for your commitment
to quality and product design. An for the
record, the Raven III gave me the performance
of a lifetime!
Blue Skies,
Forrest Blue
